Alternator belt

Post by Amurray »

Ok need a little help. What would make a brand new alternator belt flip? This one is now no good. I lost one a week ago testing my car out. Had to shut her down due to not having a spare. Heck a few things happen that day......1. lost boost as the intake pipe blew off(note to self always bring tools :( 2. Lost on of the nuts for the engine bolt 3. lost my fan belt. All in all it was a good day

Have you checked the alignment of the pulleys? Use a long metal ruler or straight piece of steel to check.

They make a shim kit to solve alignment issues.

High rpm will throw a belt easier if the belt is a little loose or things aren't perfectly aligned.

Thanks, I'll try the "no shims" and see how that works. More testing this weekend. Also I think I'm going to switch to the "REV6" dual clutch before I go back to the dyno.
