1985 Vanagon - New Headgaskets, Super Rust Free Price: 3500

1985 VW Vanagon

Exterior:
• All lights work
• Super rust free body – underbody pics
• Good Windshield
• Parking lot dings and minor scratches/dents

Interior:
• All carpet and padding removed for cleaning
o bleached interior metal
o power washed carpet and padding
• Later Model Front Seats with new covers – have armrests, just not installed
• Center seat removed – (available to be included if buyer wants it)
• New Carpet in center area – Rubber Matting under feet in front of rear seal
• Leather Audi 5000 Steering wheel (Stock wheel available too)
o Much more comfy than stock – thicker rim, slightly smaller diameter feels sportier, still easy to steer at parking lot speeds
• Rear heater was slightly leaking, so has been bypassed. Easy to replace heater core if buyer requests.

Chassis
• Mercedes 16” Wheels w/ Continental 205/55r16 tires
o Installed with T3 longer lugs and studs – can use spacers if you wish
• Shifts easily and well
o Trans has slight gear whine in 3rd and 4th
o New Fluid in Trans
• Steering tight
• Suspension handles REALLY well
o Cracked ball joint boot, but no clunks (packed new grease, sealed boot)

Engine
• Brand new head gaskets, injector seals, intake/exhaust gaskets, etc.
• Runs strong, starts right up, idles, sounds great
• All new fluids
• New V-belt

Good looking, sweet driving van. Head gaskets just done, all new fluids, injector seals, new v-belt etc. Suspension and steering are tight, brakes are very strong and responsive. Interior has been thoroughly cleaned and is ready to be used. Middle seat has been removed, but is available. New Carpet and Rubber mat installed in cargo area (great increase in utility over the middle seat, IMO). 16” Mercedes wheels installed with longer lugs and studs – makes the van handle really, really well. Newer shocks. Have stock wheels avail too (would be perfect for Snows). (center caps available, and can be installed with spacers. Studs and lugs long enough to use spacers if the buyer wants – but not necessary)

It does has some ‘parking lot bruises’ – the most significant being the right rear wheel arch. The van is so rust free and solid, if someone wants to rebuilt over time, this would be an awesome base for making it really nice and having this repaired, but obviously not necessary. I think it is the perfect ‘drive it now, and upgrade someday later’ van. You could drive it this way for many, many years, or you could plan on doing a Subaru and some exterior restoration, whenever you want – the base van is super solid.

$3500 for quick sale.

[Partial trades considered – other VWs & old Audis – Rabbit/Scirocco/Jetta/Fox/4000 etc, Bus, Vanagon, Type 3, Type 4, etc. or Porsche parts & cars – Wheels, Carburetors (Weber/Zenith/Dellorto) steering wheels, Recaro seats, 924/944/914/912/911/928 – even consider motorcycles - just ask!]

Thanks man. It's a great driver, but no show car - like I said, it's got some parking lot evidence! But for a 1985, and with the brand new headgaskets and such, she's ready to go. IMO, compared to what's out there that's got no maintenance and rusty, this one is a great value. Just looking to sell it quick and hope to pick up a 69 fasty as a driver project.

Might want to set your location in the board prefs.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
