Value on a F/G 356 coupe body?

I have a complete raw 356 coupe kit, the body plus windows (plus many other parts if a package can be worked out) and I'm trying to figure out a fair selling price, but I'm not finding much (anything) to compare it to.
I know some don't like asking the value, but if you could help point me in the right direction I appreciate it.

BTW I registered 4 days ago on speedsterowners (dot) com but still no go...Is it dead?

I love those fiberglass coupes, I've seen beautiful turnkey Mexican ones sell on ebay for around 14k.
How many hours of build time does it take to complete one?

Here's some things to think about. I've heard that you can get into a turnkey Beck built speedster for about $35,000. Mild engine and basic accoutrements. So, that would be the high water mark.

Who built your kit? There are several manufacturers. Is the kit complete? This is a big deal. If you're minus a key piece, it could be a problem.

You say you have "other parts for the package". What?

What shape is everything in? I think these kits are real popular and finding a buyer should be easy, once you know exactly what you have.

No idea on who made the kit. I have no paperwork
Items that would have come with the "kit" is 100% complete, windows, window frames, interior F/G parts like inner wells, engine surrounds, etc., signal and tail lights etc.
The incomplete part would be the stuff you you were to get off of the donor beetle, although I have a bunch of that stuff as well, including the seats (good 912 I believe), a custom steering column, interior panels etc.
I also have many of the beetle bits if wanted.

As for time to build I'd say about the same amount of time to restore a beetle.

It has one broken A-pillar, some rash as seen in the pic, a few edge chips and the fender inner lips need some work. As a raw F/G body it would need a fair bit of messauging and trial fitting to get it perfect for paint. It (doors, lids, etc.) seems to fit well, but anyone who's worked with F/G would/should know that it takes some work to get it right.

I'd say that a package deal with all the parts that you say you have would bring about $6-$7k...

I think 3 to 4k would be more in line -- I guess it depend how fast you want to move it -- you could list the higher price and see if you get any nibbles and always come down

Is the kit still available. I life in the Netherlands and i am interested when the price is right and the shipping price is not to high. Do you have a complete discription of the kit. The kit is to put on a beetle floorpan?

Yes it's still available, It would need a tube sub-frame built on a shortened VW chassis.

Old post, but just FYI. Given that your location is Canada, I would say it was made in Barrie Ontario, fly by night outfit that made speedster’s and then Cobra’s. They went bust.
There was a handful of these Hart tops made, I ran across a few of these bodies back then but they did not mount on a regular beetle pan, the company made their own frames.

2X4 square tubing, with 2X2 square tubing around the rear to support the 356 body, Ball joint front end with a VW rear clip welded to the mild steel tubing.

This body was sold to one of the better known kit builders to be used as a plug.

Cool to know, perhaps now, might be the time for a decent 356 Coupe to reappear on the market.

I had one of those frames hanging from my shop wall for over ten years before selling it, to Brad at Brad’s bugs, for those that are familiar with the Ontario scene.

So I take it you are a Canadian transplant to Huntington Beach?
I tried to locate that very frame from Brad when I was selling this body, but he never got back to me, as he was pretty well finished shut down mode at that time.

Cool to find out about this, but I know the kit builder that acquired it was planning a much more sophisticated frame for this.

Correct, made in Germany with German parts, shipped off to the great white north and after being thoroughly frozen sent off to California to defrost.

That Porsche body sure brought back some memories, Dennis Prophet build one of these and I believe handled your body at one time.

I bought my frame from the Toy Dealer in Bolton Ontario after they build their first 356 speedster and lost their shirt on the deal. They had an extra frame sitting outside for about five years.
I bought it from them, had it blasted and primed and it spent the next ten years or so hanging in my shop.
Knowing how the place in Barrie, who originally build these things worked, it was probably a knockoff from Intermeccanica, not sure if they had a jig or not.

Technology and knowledge has not stood still. Many companies now make really nice aftermarket frames.
