Nice! Any pictures of the fuse in line?

No, many years ago my computer was hacked and they took a lot of pictures from it. The picture is the best I have and it doesn't show much.

This is a 50 AMP auto reset circuit breaker similar to what I used.

This is my blue buggy shown here during one of the three tear downs I did; this time to make a body lift, suspension and shock change and rewire. The cross-piece marked by the arrow is one of the ways they used to support the rear seat/package tray on the glass body and give some support to the stock shock mounts forgings. It is either "C-channel" or a half section of a rectangular tube but anyway, I mounted the circuit breaker to it (then, as usual I do things a bit different) by the arrow so basically the alt now has some protection so you could then go to the starter and wire normally or have a bunch of other fun.

I have a 1600 dual port that did have a dynamo on it , I changed it to an alternator because the 2 top pulleys were working against each other and grinding the centre part of the top pulley ROUND instead of the square ish shape that they are supposed to be. THIS new alternator is also damaging the top pullies. I now have a German alternator with a German pulley , The same thing has happened.

This engine has a 36hp copy shroud and a Chinese alternator pedestal.
I have done my best to get them aligned , the fan belt is plumb and not slanted

Marc mentioned a fan in balance.

Alternator is always better IMHO.
If you want to figure your amperage load, take the wattage of all your lights and divide by the voltage (12) and that is you amperage load.
Plus the ignition system and anything else that is electrical.
Ohhhhh Yea! Add everything electrical up then add more to give yourself some leeway for the future as there is always something else that you will want to put in.

Did you change from a dynamo stand to an alternator stand? They are different and require a different fuel pump and push rod. This is because of the off-set required for the Alt size and diameter mostly.

Not sure if your interested but I got a couple pictures of the alt stand and fuel pump that is in my glass buggy and it is a tight fit.

The stand with the arrow is pointing to the fuel pump.

The fuel pump and Alt from the other side.

If you still want the pix of the circuit breaker I can try to get one tomorrow but it won't really show much. Being this is a glass buggy that is used only in the sand (you can see sand in the pix) so, like a rail the electrical is minimal but I did some what you might call unorthodox wiring of it; e.g., I run two basic circuits, one hot and one switched via the key. There were reasons some of which are now not needed but it does work and the hot is there when it is needed.

The destruction of your pulleys is because you don't have enough shims between and outside the pulley halves.

Thanks guy's for the help.
I've fitted another NEW pulley and fitted 4 NEW shims on the inner and 4 on the outer.
I have also removed the wobbly fan.
I fitted the alternator to the engine along with another alternator pedestal. The pedestal that was on the engine is a proper alternator stand but was a Chinese one.

The alternator pullies are inline and the fan belt is straight. The fan housing at this point is not fitted, I'm going to bench run it without the shroud just to check that the pulley doesn't destroy itself. the last pulley only lasted 10 mins before it got chewed up.
Then I'll fit another fan that I have tested and is running true and test again.
If OK its over to the copy 36 hp shroud. I should be able to fit the alternator to the shroud, Then fit the alternator/shroud combo to the engine and have the belts be inline like they were without the shroud fitted.

Guys .
I can only get the top and bottom pulley to be aligned if I don't fit the fan shroud. If I fit the shroud it pushes the alternator out 5mm forward which puts the fan belt on an angle.
The backing plate looks correct, (I have other v dubs to compare).
The shroud is a copy 36 hp.

I bench ran it without the shroud and with the pulleys aligned and experienced no pulley rattle or saw any damage to the pulley.
