Hi hpw,

What should I say?
No it is not me and I do not know anything about the car.
It looks too good to be true or the bike is not beeting fully on his throttle.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the comments. Yes I turned 50 few weeks ago and I have spent most of my life since 18 with these ACVW in my blood.
Sure I am raising a family too and not spending all money on the hobby but I do not count, I do not think I should either.
For me life is the journey having fun as I and my nearby people go along. It is not to have the most money or bank account balance saved but rather experiences and knowledge sharing during the trip.

I'm sorry, didn't come across the way I intended. Just thought it was a pretty

fast car, and as far as the bike "beeting" on the throttle, if you listen to the

sound of the engine before and after the vw passes you can tell (at least I

thought so) that he is putting everything into it.

Anyway this ^ is off topic and thought it was worth sharing. Anyway your car

is just as impressive and thanks for taking the time to share it with us.

New shorter intake for the CB FI throttle bodies.
Not only lower profile but also straighter with IDF pattern.
Sure it is not the humongous holes of the 61 carb manifolds but still.

Might take them Pakistan for some weekend cleanup, taking away the injector bosses and getting them polished.

You are giving me credit but what can I say about your car? Absolutely fantastic. I do like it a lot.

Hi frallan,
I love the work that you have done with your type 4 engine. It is very wicked!
Quick question, what wheels are those on the beetle? They look like steelies?

Hi, yes steel wheels.
Directly from CSP. Front with re-welded center for increased offset.
Yes they are quite heavy.
I have a set of 11 lbs wheel lying around but they require some work that I just do not have time for.

Thanks for comments.

Cool. I am also going to be using 16 inch steelies from a VW Jetta (Bora?) MK4 on my fastback

Update time

The objective is having filtered cold air and lowering of sound level.
GWD airboxes have been purchased and double inlet NACA with 3" holes.

I will now modify the boxes for double hoses of 2,5" inlet going through the firewall in to an airbox with each one K&N filter per side.
The box will be dampened.
Then the box itself will be fed by the NACA ducts.

Such a good picture I found of the Pank dragster when it shone the most, I had to share.
Straight from an exhibition hall. Everything so nicely polished and no racing trackbite or other dirt.
The time is early spring 1979.

Here we are with a slight progress in the build of the intake boxes for filtered and sound dampened air.
I have forgotten how much work it is to "fiddle" with small stuff and getting the tubes to fit, fibreglass and then all this putty hand work to get to look good.
Anyway, here they are in progress and the one of the two K&N that will sit inside the central airbox and fed by the NACA.

Friend of mine sent me this link to Swedish drag racing and I think the year is 1977 or possibly 1978.
Anyway it is mainly dedicated to St Moritz Fashion beetle and which few years later became my 1958 beetle but with new paint job.
Reference to page #1 of this thread with some more information.
Quite cool to see these old videos, even if the quality is not so fantastic.
Enjoy it! It is worth downloading.

Thanks Turbobaja Karl!

How can I not share these babies that I found on e-bay.
They are made out of inconel and from a Cart IRL car.
One will just be sitting on a shelf as decoration and the other will be on my car, one day....

What a work of art. The inside weldings and the perfect merged cone, soooo beautiful.
