Top notch car.

How often do you drive the car? And how long did it take you to get from when you first picked up the car to where you are now?

You must have invested a lot in the car as well, can you give us a ballpark of how much you've invested?

Sorry 'it's taken a while to reply guys............ 'been away :D

But here goes......

ress,
the seal(s) ARE, just as you say, the Mexican ones, I don't know if they come in any other sizes as the ones I have I had to cut down as they were too long. At the top of the hood, on the scuttle I've used a normal seal that I've trimed at the ends where they would fit into the now non-exhistant grips. sorry if that's not much help.

ridinthedune,
Hi, thanks for that :D
I post my pics by linking them from photobucket
simple... open up photobucket in another window
select the pic you want to post
copy the tag that starts and ends in
write you post and where you want to place the image click paste...... like I said ...simple.

'glad you approve!
As for how often I drive it............. EVERY DAY..... come rain or shine! Seriously, I never built it to be an ornament or trailer Queen. It's a car and it NEEDS to be used. I drive it to work everyday, in the rushour madness, in the p**sing rain everything........... it gets used.... abused.....and enjoyed!

I'm not going to lie and say that the car hasn't cost a lot....... it has, but not as much as most people think, I do as much work on the car myself as I can and I'm a bit of an ebay warrior!!!! (the brakes cost £102 for all 4 disks AND calipers + £100 for machining backing plates/mounts, the 944 master cylinder was won for £2.50!!! - The WHOLE stereo system retails at well over $4000!!!! but I've managed to pick it up bit by bit for close to $800 :D . Even the wheels were a steal.......... less than the price of a set of repo' empi 8's!) So I've managed to save quite a bit on it really.
I've had the car for 9 years (it's been on the road a little over a year)and ....so far.... it's averaged out at around £1500 a year......... not bad if I do say so myself, I know people that smoke more than that each year!
I could either have my bug or a modern euro hatchback for the money.... I'm happy with the bug!

Anyway

Cheers guys, 'glad you like it

Very Nice beetle. I love the interior. Could you tell me what you are running for suspension? Looks like everything has been taken care of, including the beautiful looking pan.

Sure, no problem :D

The front end starts with a PUMA adjustable beam (stock width) with the adjusters set on their lowest settings.
There's a pair of 2 1/2" CB dropped spindles hanging of the ends of this.
There's a bump steer kit, long travel balljoints and shims for the beam to keep everything moving ok.
The shocks are AVO coilovers with 100lb springs. the shocks themselves ar adjustable for both damping and pre-load ......... which used in combination with the beam adjusters means I can set the ride height to what I want but still have a great ride quality.
last but not least is the uprated anti-roll bar.

The back end is a lot simpler, there's a air of Red9Design 2 1/2" lowered spring plates, they lower the ride height but maintaing the same spring rate as stock without moving the splines around.
The dampers are SPAX adjustables, and give a really smooth ride.
There's a camber compensator AND a rear anti-roll bar out there too

Glad 'you like the car

I have tons of respect for any man that would drive such a fine car on a daily basis. From the pics I just assumed it was a trailer queen, but just knowing it's a driver gives me hope for my next project
