Tale of two engines

Post by michaelt55 »

I have an option to buy a 2056 in two ways. One is an Jake Raby assembled, 2056 currently in a 914 that is in good shape and registered. It has approx 1000 miles on the engine.
The other is to have a retailer assemble a 2056 Jake Raby kit for me. The one in the car is ready to go, drive up, trailer the car home or fly up and drive it back. The other will be ready in Nov or so but I can do some minor alterations to it for a price. The one in a car is ready to go, all I need to do is pull it and put my DTM from my other Type 4 on it and install in my car.

Price? The one being assembled is about $500-1000 more.

Give me an opinion?

Mike, who is the owner of the 2056 in the 914? make sure it has my serial number and let me cross it to my records..

There are fake engines about these days!

Jake,
I will get his full name but its Richard in Lubbock. You built it in 2003. He said he just hasn't driven it much...4-5 miles a week.

what do you think Jake? Its been good for him so far... I am leaning that way since I can drive it in the 914 until I can bolt it up to my 359. Hes driven it in the summer heat so I know its handling the thermal issues.

He was stunned with the power differnce when he first got the engine and after we got him up and dialed in he went silent- that usually is a good thing..

I'd say go for it. How many miles has he put on it?
