Anyone know where I can buy material like this?
I am working on a project for a buggy and I need a piece of material like is pictured but I cant find any company that will sell this type of material in small quantities.
This is not regular treaded rod. It has a different thread and pitch, it is intended to be used for things like screw jacks, tongue jacks and stuff like that.
If you know who sells this stuff I would appreciate the info...
Thanks

It looks like Acme screw threads. Try McMaster-Carr. We buy it in small quantities from them every few months for a job we do.

I agree. It is an acme threaded shaft. They come in standard sizes. Not all that cheap either for quality parts.

I'd be looking on the curb around here for a Used and blow Garage door Opener.... a lot of them are Screw driven and use that kind of stuff..... Free on the curb. Or call a local Garage door opener installation company... they toss them in the trash and haul 'em off when they install new units.
I have found them completely missing more than once. - PILEDRIVER

I remember several years ago I was given a McMasters-Carr catalog, it was like the adult version of getting the sears toy catalog when I was a kid. Threw the thing away when I moved and couldn't remember the name beem saved on my computer and in my back up files this time.
Thanks

Or hardware store C-clamps and vices.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Scissor jacks and c clamps are good ideas but they do not provide the length that I need.

I did in fact use the guts from an electric scissor jack to make the mechanism that opened and closed the back of my Manta Montage.
Above is a link showing it working.

Ah, English.
It doesn't even help if you Do speak it.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
