DIY Brake Lines

My project is at the point where it makes sense to just fab up all of the hard brake lines..

Because I'm using certain factory pieces, like master cylinder and calipers, etc.

What is the standard for these old VWs when it comes to brake lines?

Here,
Where I usually order, Eastwood, they list 3/16" and 1/4".
But ain't ours metric?

I have a couple of different benders and a straightener and flare tool and cutter and..

Who has a favorite, or things to avoid?

What about steel vs. stainless, vs. copper nickel?

Stainless is my go to, but I always used Pre fitted lines... haven't done any VW's in MANY years as I haven't had to, so nothing stands out as to do or not to do really in my mind. Others will chime in I'm sure.

Stainless work hardens no?
Just use Cunifer. It's made for the job.

All Metals work harden... Stainless faster, but typically you're not likely to do enough working of a brake line to cause fractures unless you have no plan going in. But the typical Lines and materials are fine, I just like the Stainless especially in the long line front to rear to cut down on outside issues of corrosion eating through the line over time. The Cunifer Claims Rust resistance so Sounds like a great place to start as well.
