Anyone out there have any of these tools for sale or know where I can purchase them? I am looking to rebuild my transmissions. In the past I have rebuilt several other manual transmissions, just not VW's.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Transmission rebuild tools
Autotoolworld has the big pinion nut socket. Weddle has some tools, but they are out of some. You will have to do some digging for used stuff, if you list what you’re rebuilding or what tools you need it would help people.
Prestont philips was selling laser or water jet pinion nut tools for a little while.

If I assume US IRS boxes
circlip pliers
Big pinion nut socket- autotoolworld.com
Seen video of people using 2x4 to pry out gear stack, will be easier if you heat with heat gun to remove
Stack of 4x4 can be used to press gear shafts out of gear carrier
Bearing separator to help break down shafts
bridge tool for pressing fourth can be two things the same height your press can press at the same time.
Old 3rd or 4th with pinion nut socket for 1st gear race...not sure where to get that tool new right now
trans jig can be an old cut up case, or weddle sells new jigs

Re: Transmission rebuild tools
At a minimum:
381 pinion nut socket
hydraulic press
jig for fork shift adjustment (can be made from an old main housing)
.. and to replace the pinion bearing, you'll need the fixture to retain the 1st gear race lock nut (Type I equivalent of the Type II #2052 .. can't remember the tool number) https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/1233374.jpg
