managed to dig a 4.125 RP and 0.89 002 fine gear at an old vw shop. he has things laid everywhere.
not sure if the line means some damage or something
how to check r/p and 4th gear if good condition or not?

That "line" is a groove that VW machined into the gear for ID purposes.
Clean away the gunk, is it a G833, K833, or an O833?

he has quite a few tranny parts everywhere, but always taped together in matched pairs i supposed.
he seems knowledgeable about tranny parts and told me has has found 4 sets of swing ZF LSD but sold all. told him to find one for me
will go back and look for the following
1. course 002 3rd and course 0.89 002 and fine 0.89 002
2. K 4.125
3. whatever good used bearings

Best is the O type. Pretty rare though.pupjoint wrote:it is a G833. wish it is a K.Bruce2 wrote:That "line" is a groove that VW machined into the gear for ID purposes.
