replacing syncro cone to 002 gears

i was trying to replace the engagement ring (syncro cone) of a 002 bus gear, i removed the old welded ring and was figuring how to operate. the replacement i see that have the splines, mine doe not have, maybe it is a different version but i saw that it is possible to fit a 113 engagement ring, but it can only be pressed with a very little size, a fraction of the 113 versio, do i have to tigweld to obtain a firm placement? about total size it appears to be correct.
