stop light ground

Post by waterbus »

I just got my '65 split window bus on the road and the stop lights were not working. I traced it to a ground issue and found some stuff I would like to pass on. First, the ground to the socket was just a small piece of metal that was leaning against the socket (by design) and rust had built up so there was no electrical path. Next I noticed that the screws holding the light in were not touching both the body and the light body. In other words there was no way for a path to ground. To fix I got new 1157 sockets and welded them in place of the old rusty sockets. Next I drilled a hole and inserted a screw thru the housing for a good ground. Now everything works well. When I put the welder ground on the housing it would not get a good ground and at one time burned the joint between the bowl and flat of the housing.Image

Nice fix thanks for sharing.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.
