009 circlip removal???

Post by yodal »

Hi, I'm reconditioning my 009 distributor but cant seem to figure out how to remove the circlip thats under the felt pad at the top of the 009 main shaft?

Any suggestions?

I've searched a ton and cant find anything.

If I remember correctly I carefully put the distributor housing in a vice to hold it by wrapping it with some cloth to prevent scarring. That allowed me to use both hands with two mini screwdrivers to push on each end of the clip and force it off.
It does take a bit of dexterity.....

Just use a punch set to the pin and give it sharp tap with a hammer. It'll come right apart.

Damn!

Stick a flat blade screwdriver between the upper and lower shaft and twist. The clip will pop off.

To reinstall, use a 6mm deep socket and a very light hammer to force it back on.
