IDA Throttle Bodies
These will probably be available soon
42mm 45mm 48mm bore size -42 and 45 taper up to 48mm at the intake

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
Not quite ready for VW application yet and just getting around to making the batch of stainless fuel rails.
Not even sure whether there is any need for IDA pattern TBs unless you are confined to the choice of manifold for Autocraft Pauter heads or prefer the taller IDA manifold for the Comp Elims.
These throttles can be flipped to put the injectors inboard and can be used on IDF manifold with shorter coupling. Also spindles can be set up to rotate either way

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
Why so big.... For all out racing they may be fine, but for average street use something like a 34-36mm throat/butterfly would be more desirable...

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
They're mainly for other engines so 42mm is the smallest which will allow for over 200 real hp on a VW engine. So yes you are correct 34mm or 36mm would be fine for 99% of the VW engines out there

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
I like the idea of the IDA throttle bodies because I may want to swap to these when I get tired of the Webers. I can just bolt these on with out going to the extent of buying IDF manifolds and then having to match port them.

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
I'd be very interested in a set of 36mm or 38mm IDA throttle bodies...

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
I'm guessing England and the inside bore is 45mm based on this site; https://vwspeedshop.com/product.php?productid=16840
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
Just got a set for the Apfelbeck project (N/A) and man! these are nice
Needed these already as I need the pattern for making custom manifolds, so they won't be on the engine soon, but does give a chance to shoot some pics:
On a type 4 - when you also have a centralised intake position per head - the IDA bore spacing is very good (close):
They are place next to my 48IDF VWspeedshop TB's as I want to use the trumpets for when I dyno the 2,4 in n/a form again with a few minor other changes
Love the platform idea of these.

Re: IDA Throttle Bodies
I've been running my 2276 on 45mm ITBs from China (eBay)
MSII batch fired running the VW Speedshop crank trigger
Web 86b
Mofoco 42x37 hand ported to a mini wedge by Reichspeed VW 70cc intake ports
CR 10.2:1
1 5/8 header
The 45s we're fine in Alpha-N but I want this to behave well as a street car not just full throttle.
I tapped the manifolds for vac takeoff and made a little manifold to merge all 4 pulses and ran speed density.
It idled at around 63kPa but at light load I just didn't have the throttle control also, cruising at 70mph was at like 5% tps.
I spoke with Paul over the phone for a while and he advised his 36mm throttle bodies will support 170bhp and 6000rpm
Perfect.
Here they are fitted
They're as beautiful in person as they look, the movement of the butterflies is in a different league to that of the chinese ones.
The butterflies look so small in comparison, but the maths says they make peak power at around 5800rpm.
The vintage speed linkage fits and works nicely, need the Mrs to push the throttle pedal down so I can verify theyre opening fully and calibrate the TPS.
Issues I ran into,
The fuel rail above no3 was pretty close to the bulkhead, I had to massage it 5mm to give the 90° fitting some wiggle room.
My injectors are taller than the spacers allow so I needed taller spacers for the fuel rail.
I think the manifold on the 3/4 side isn't quite as flat as it should be as when I nip the tb down on that side it doesn't quite return to fully closed. I'll have a little more time tomorrow to have a play.
None of the issues are related to the design or manufacture, more just down to the nature of how many different a there can be.
