Bosch 044 to big?

Post by Wentzel »

Hi guys I need some advice.

I am currently running a Bosch fuel pump (cant remember the model but probably off a vanagon or golf). It has been running great for many years but started whining recently.

My question is can I replace it with a Bosch 044? I am using 47 lb/hr injectors and fuel pressure of around 43psi. The pump will need to be replaced anyway with future engine upgrades that I am busy with, will it circulate too much fuel in my current setup or should it be ok?

I don't want to replace the pump now and later again with an 044.

Thanks

If you can easily get an 044 then for sure... On the other hand, there is also the 070. I've used this on 2 different projects now. Safe for up to 300hp on turbo applications and came as a factory pump on a bunch of cars including mercs and local holdens (GMs). More than enough for anything I'll ever do on my car.

I buy them because people want to put a premium on 044s over here. The 070 can be bought at ANY parts store for around $100.

I agree. The originals are made in Chech republic iirc and are not that (more) expensive.

Thanks Wally

Got hold of a 044 Pump for a decent price. Waiting for delivery and hoping to install it over the weekend.
