spark advance

Post by Fastie »

So I'm doing my spark table and wondering what the max advance a type 1 engine should be fed.
I have a 1835 with a turbo cam in it - but running N/A at the moment. The cam is a very flat torque curve.

So a dizzy would advance to around 36deg, but I'm finding maps where people are hitting 50deg off load and in the 40s on load.

What are the educated thoughts?

During deceleration and cruise the advance can be upwards of 40 degrees. I'd keep it around 32 degrees max. under load, depending on your altitude of course. Good starting point anyway.
