LS2 Coil , 1 or 2 mods to do ?
Do both the mods on page 78 and 79 need to be done to run the LS2 coils ?

Re: LS2 Coil , 1 or 2 mods to do ?
On page 78, The TC 4427 drivers are an alternate setup that can drive LS2 coils (connected to 5v) OR VAG logic coils. IIRC someone sells 2 channel modules you can stick in the proto area.(can also be added to uSv3 or ms2 module board, they make inj drivers too)
These have a medium current + signal out, they are not pull downs like ~all other outputs... the VAG coils don't work with a normal logic pulldown like the LS2 coils will..
Section 5.3.1.4 "resistor method" starts on page 78 and rolls into page 79.
Its one mod, it looks harder than it is. (I have always used a separate 4 channel driver for both ign and injectors)
I now run a MS3x for ~all my outputs and some inputs (on MS2 or MS3) much cleaner setup with no wire runs tacked on.
It can be fit in a MS1/2 single height box with custom end plates.
Even allows 3 wire IAC on MS2.(with a wire run to get fidle (inverted) to the second output, usually vvt1)
Requires a simple $12 adapter board kit, most all configuration is done on the adapter, no mainboard mods required, all the "MS2e sequential" mods are built into the adapter. Plugs into an MS3X is the std way.
Search msextra for MS2X if curious, Mario and I have adapters. (his may fit a little better, arguable, same circuit)

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Thx , I'll run that 'resistor' method.

Resistor method will make the coils 'spark' when you key on. The IC method doesn't do this.

Is this good/bad? What do you build? IC ?

If there is fuel in a cylinder and you key on the engine may partially rotate. I use the IC method.

Re: LS2 Coil , 1 or 2 mods to do ?
If I go the TC4427 route do I need to build 2 of them ? Copied this from some site:
For wasted spark, you use one TC4427 chip. This generates buffered SparkA and SparkB signals that go to 2 TBD spare pins on the DB-37. Within the engine compartment wiring harness, the SparkA pin/wire goes to 2 coil-on-plugs and SparkB pin/wire goes to the other 2 COPs

1 IC will drive 2 logic coils per channel.

Re: LS2 Coil , 1 or 2 mods to do ?
Thx Mario , confused cause in the manual http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/MS2V30_Hardware-3.4.pdf on page 83 it looks as though you run 2 TC4427's and then you can run 4 COP's off of it. Found another post and has the same as you posted here below but wanted to confirm :
http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 01&t=55379
Not coil 6 but img used as an example:
Can you see my confusion ?

Re: LS2 Coil , 1 or 2 mods to do ?
Each output can drive 2 coils so you can run a V8 waste spark like that, with VAG or LS2 coils.
I suspect the "'resistor method" could do the same, only for LS2 coils as they have virtually no load.
(have not needed to try it)
