I'll start by warning you this isn't going to happen overnight!

I've started wiring in the auxillary fuseboard along with the relay board, WBO2.

Hardware is as follows

MS2 v3.0
Relay board
VW speedshop crank trigger kit
GM IAT and CLT temp probes
Ford EDIS
Innovate MTX-l LSU4.9

First stage is to get it setup on the 1600 running crank fired ignition...

So far. Live from battery +ve post and fused switched live from the aux fusebox up front. Ground straight to the battery -ve post
Pink goes up front to the yellow from the MTX-l (0V = 7.35 AFR and 5V =
22.39 AFR)
That M6 stud is connected to the -ve post of the battery too, my intention is to run all of the earths to that point (inc.MTX-l earth pictured too)

This cable is shielded... Black is for TACH does white go out to the VR sensor???

Difficult to tell but I need the female half of this plug... Is this the one?

I found the connectors for the VR sensor... Oddly, it's a female EV1 fuel injector plug... I have some on the shelf...

You are at the right place.

Piledriver and clonebug are big help.

A lot of what I said to you over at samba is a repeat of what I have learned here.

Read clonebug thread of his build. He has been where you are. It will help and is an interesting read.

Checking out my board mods that I did maybe 5-6 years ago...
I think the idea was to run the ford edis coil (without edis) using 2 x BIP373

I have one installed at Q16
the other screwed to the case
I desoldered the joints though as they looked poo... Connections are as follows

Top of R27 - left leg
IAC2B - middle leg
R38- right leg

And it is setup for HE.

is this good to go or do I need to redo anything?

Mine is on a v2.2 board. Does not have ignition on it as standard. I have made the saw output for the ford module and I do not direct controll the coils.

You do have the extra code loaded?

32 pages into CBs thread... Man what a rollercoaster!
Not found anything about direct firing the coil though yet...

I doubt he spells out which wire to put where. That would come from the manual.

I used a Ver. 2.2 with EDIS module and coil. It was a used setup I picked up from Mario when I first started. I have no idea how it was wired since it came assembled.
I leave that to the Expert.....
It helps that I only live about 100 miles away too.........

I now run a MS-2 Ver. 3.0 with direct fire also set up by Mario. Itty Bitty electronic pieces are not my cup of tea..... I leave that to the ones that know.

I just bend small bits of metal and and wire the harnesses. :D

Hey CB,
Sweet yeah I'd be all over Mario if he wasn't 3000 miles away :D

So your new setup is identical to how mine is going to be, still using the relay board?

I have had the ECU powered up and connected to MSdroid with the engine running just to see a Tach signal...
I'm getting 65000 RPM at idle which is a bit beyond even this counterweighted CB crank eh? :D
I have twiddled R52 and R56 (Trigger and hysteresis points) to no avail so now I am looking for noise... I think I'll run the shielded cable from DIYA direct from the DB37 as opposed to through the relay board. Good idea?

White from VR to Pin 24
Black from VR to engine ground or Pin 1?

Bypassed the relay board for the tach input from the VR in a quest to minimise noise.
Going to do similar for the two coil outputs too.

Updated the Firmware today as I was having a couple of odd issues the usual Google fixes couldn't fix... All good with a clean tach signal now

Wired the coil in.
Fords edis coil (minus the EDIS Very Happy)
Left wire to Spark A (IGN which is pin 37)
Middle wire to switched live from the standard coil
Right wire to Spark B (IAC2B which is pin 31)

With the engine running still on the distributor but the new coil wired in I got sparks on all 4 plugs... Ms doing what it should so far. So I slipped the ht leads off the ford coil onto the engine and tried to start it up.
When cranking though I have no tach input. I dropped cranking rpm down to 500rpm (from 650) but still nothing.

I have called it at that, getting dark here and the battery is probably a little tired.

Any ideas why I am missing the trigger when cranking? Is that a matter of fiddling with the trigger/hysteresis pots again?

Cheers.

I had a similar issue when I was first trying to fire up my MS project. Looked back in my thread and here was my problem:
"For some reason I followed the cam toothed wheel instructions instead of just the instructions for the crank toothed wheel and VR sensor in the MSExtra, and didn't have JP7 jumpered on the MS3X card. Jumpered that puppy and put everything back together. We have a crank signal!"

The other two common things I could find were having the wiring backwards on the sensor, and not having the pots turned the correct way.
Hope that helps, or at least helps rule something out.

I had the timing of the toothed wheel right.
But.
I had the spark a and the spark b backwards.
Effectively 180 out.

Cheers fellas, I'll check that out...
Had assumed I was running resistor plugs WR8AC but thought I ought to check... Turns out they are just W8AC so I've been and bought some NGK BR6HS plugs. (Didn't have 5s)
Not sure that's why I'm getting no cranking tach but I guess it is possible.
