In the real world, us VW guys read a message then type up a reply, then post it. By the time we're onto the next message, it's been a minimum of 2-3-4 minutes. What if you put a restriction that you can't post within 3 minutes of the previous post? 99% of us will never notice it.

It's an interesting thought. I'll look to see what can be done. I have played with the settings before with the same intent. And, you're right, 99.9% don't even notice that something is slower. A few years ago, the settings were really about the only way to slow down the spammers.

But now, the spammers/software is so sophisticated that they are exploiting "holes" in the software that the board runs on. The last 2 spammers were the old standbys weddingdress and unlockcellphone guys that show up with consistency. They are definitely software based spemmers, rather than an individual.

The real people are the ones that you can't keep from posting. The machine based guys can usually register, but can't post, like the ones above. The real guys are the ones that actually, log on, register, sign in and then post. Labor in Taiwan is cheap, I guess.

Anyway, even though I hate putting on restrictions (even fairly benign ones), I will look at the settings and see if adjusting will pay.

Some forums also have the challenge options, do a simple math problem or copy a 6 character alphanumeric display to prove the poster is a human. So far it seems to help keep the software bots at bay...........for now................
