`65 marked the inception midyear of the "9-million" 1200cc engine (like yours). These were the precursor to the "D" motors which continued to be offered in other countries after `65, and the best single-relief/small-passage 40HP there is.
Most notable was the adoption of insert cam bearings (8-million and prior cases had the camshaft running right in the bore of the case). You can confirm this with the flywheel off by the larger camplug, or by lifting the fanshroud and examining the raised rib in the case casting on either side of the parting line...on cam-bearing cases it's wider than the rest of the top rib.
9-million/"D" heads are the best 40HP heads ever, too. They sort of resemble 13/15/1600 heads in the shape of the casting under the top head nuts, and require slightly longer head studs than earlier 40HPs. Pushrods resemble 1300 parts, but are shorter (and very slightly longer than most 40HP). Rockerarm assemblies are identical to those used on 13/15/1600 engines, with 1.1:1 rockers in place of the previous 1:1s.
Even with the slightly-better-flowing intake ports and 10% more valve lift, the rated horsepower was never changed but I'd wager you've got a good honest ½HP more than the next guy (assuming you're getting full throttle out of the funky S-bar gas pedal) :D
