Marc- I already miss that awesome avatar

Steve- Mods run this place, and they can do whatever they want as long as the site owner is cool with it. The site owner is the ultimate authority here, private forums are not democracies. Also Steve, huge fail when you use wikipedia as a credible source :P
I have volunteered to be a moderator for the efi forums since Tom Hansen Notch is MIA. Doc never got back with me about it. I for sure would try NOT to piss off half the population. Keep it relevant.

FYI, the wiki links I posted aren't really debatable, they are verbatim from print dictionaries. Those things still exist.

I didn't think this many people even checked this subforum, who knew!

also my .02, I know I should just let this go away but I can't help but feed into the flame war. Hopefully you can forgive me, but an independent study has shown that wikipedia is basically as reliable as the encyclopedia brittannica. Just thought it might be relevant

I think my avatar of Kenny "fawking" Powers is a whole lot more offensive then saying all idiots voted for Obummer, I'm just saying.

Sooo... Looks same as always then, eh?

I liked Marcs old avatar better, the whole vampire thing taken to a (funny) rediculous level.
It made it's point without a word..

I try hard to keep politics, religion etc out of discussions here.
Deracts from the STF IMHO.

There are plenty of boards for that.

I read turbobricks, and politics is in everything over there.

DOC must be MIA, he has not responded to my PM about this issue. I have to assume he supports his moderator and is OK with the political trolling by a moderator of this site. It sets an uncomfortable tone for a site that has been a wonderful source of information about my hobby. I'm sure no one will notice if I slip off into the digital landscape in search of a new home that is safe from political attacks by so called moderators.

Thanks for all the help!

Moderators do not sign away their rights to express their opinion. They are here to assist in keeping the site running smoothly and resolving disputes.

As long as they moderate even evenhandedly they are doing their job.

In my opinion, avatars and signatures should not be offensive or political in nature. Politics and religion should be kept out of a VW forum since some people can't handle mature discussion because their passions take over and they go insane trying to prove their point.

Think being a moderator is easy..... it's not. I know that for a fact.

Ok, I'll close it up on that more considered comment.

Just for the record, this site has been around 11 years and has, IMHO, an admirable record of being very closely focused on the broad aircooled hobby. Religion, politics, controversial issues, porn, spam have been kept to a minimum - not perfect, but pretty freakin' good. The site is FREE. I paid for it for many years. Now, thankfully member contributions (via the PayPal button only) support STF!

I don't think I'm going to ask Marc to change. He'll either read this thread and decide he has no problem stepping back from what he probably thought was "fun". After all, his side lost.

Theo, do what you're gonna do, man. You're the one who's got the itch. My hope is that you will find a way to chalk this one up to "free speech" and continue with the rest of us pursuing our mutual hobby.
I appreciate all your contributions to date.

Guys, back to dubs, please.
