kamei spoiler fiberglass remake

Post by westypoo »

hello everyone. ive been posting over on germanlook.net about this, and i started this project a yr ago when i wanted to start making these in a fiberglass version cause i see a lot of people wanting them, but shipping them and group buys can get to be a lot of leg work. so i did some digging and a friend on germanlook.net had a very crude mold that was pulled off a real one. well at the time, a yr ago, i had a lot on my plate and didnt just have the time to devote the time needed to get the mold ready to start making parts off of. so people got rather impatient on the site and lost interest and some even wanted me to just ship the mold to them.

well my life has now settled down so i can now focus on the mold and what not. im "HOPING" that if i can get/find the needed info i need to finish my mold, id like to have some made and ready for sale by Christmas time.... again i HOPE!

so....the much awaited spoilers are soon going to be available for sale. sunday night i started working the mold. heres some pics of the mold. what im asking for thoes of you that HAVE a real spoiler, can you post up some detailed pics on just how it looks off the car and just how it attaches to the bumper. the mold i believe is missing the mounting/ or lack of on the mold. im sorry its been so long guys. but as promised these will be available soon. the faster i get get detailed pics, the faster i can get this mold perfected and start selling these things.

in the pics i got some body filler on it, and am smoothing out all the imperfections in it. if you look close, you can see where its missing a piece that broke off the mold at some point.

Mines a fibreglass clone and just has a bit of a flat lip ontop that sits inside the bumper with a few bolts through it

this is probably the best pic I can find on hand atm

How is your project going?

I'd be interested in one or two when they are ready.

After some searching, I found someone who imports and sells a Kamei-style repro front spoiler in fibreglass:
Here's the supplier: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... id=1976266
Good looking product and fits neatly around the stock bumper mounts.
