1970 std bug w - 2 inch drop spindles up front, and IRS in the rear.
Hey All,
I just bought one wheel to start test fitting. The size is 18 X 7.5 X ET 51 . I also bought the CCC wider fenders. So what I am wanting to know is whats the way to make these fit.
Here are the options I am looking at:
(I will have disk brakes on all 4, currently I only have them up front.)
Option 1. Custom drilled rotors for proper bolt pattern then spacers,
Option 2. Adapter/spacers
Option 3. Wider trailing arm in the back with disk brakes. I have some stock trailing arms I plan to box in, but I guess could get them widened. If I do that will I need longer axels or special mini stubs?
Am I on the right track? I've been looking into this for a while. The wheel just came in and I expect the fenders to be in this next week.
Cheers,
Bugly

I've got a `69 with 17x8.5 ET50's under the CCC 1-1/4" wider rear fenders, and 17x7 ET55's under 2-1/2" wider front fenders. Stock width adjustable beam (AVIS), CB drop spindles, redrilled 'Ghia rotors, with bolt-on spacers of 28mm...in the rear it's running 944 discs on stock Beetle control arms with factory 944 17mm pass-through spacers.

cool have any photos?? I would like to see how they line up on the edge.
I think my fenders in the back are 3" wide. I was expecting to have to go with 20mm spacers, but that was a rough guestimate.
How long have you been running that? I've heard that it can be rough on wheel bearings.

Hey Chris
So I picked up my wheels today, and have my CCC fenders all installed. Now I need to figure out what tire size I am going to put on.
What size tires did you end up with?

Mine are only 17's, but I generally aim for about 25" tire in the back and 24" in front.
So about a 255/35 or 225/40 in rear(24.9"/25.1") and either a 215/35 or 205/40 in front (23.9/24.4"). Depends if you desire a square sidewall or one that stretches inward.
