Front and Rear drums

Post by 73VWBUG »

I'm looking to get some blank drums drilled to allow the addition of some 17 inch wheels. My question is...are both the front and rear drums on a 73 VW beetle the same? If so then I should be able to order 2 sets of rear drums from custom speed shop and they should all fit fine....am I following all this correctly. Please help.

The front and rear drums are not the same. Fronts have bearings rears are on a stub axle so they are splined. I would try So Cal Imports for custom drilled drums. You have to call'em! They don't list'em on their web site. 562-633-4979. I used So Cal for alot of parts on a '79 resto for my father-in-law they were great help.

Yes I did (but thanks for the reminder, I'd forgotten about it). Chris is working on the other side of the mountains for the next couple of weeks, and I'm headed to Anchorage for a while, but next time we get together I'll ask him what he wants to do.
