Post by johnniespaceboy »

Hey was wondering if anyone knows how to build a motor mount or any pictures if anyones done it of a motor mount that will bolt into a 67 912 to put a 2.0 Porsche type 4 motor in, thanks

Do a search on "gumby". That's one 912 that had a Type IV in it, and there have been a bunch of pictures. For a less-stock conversion, search for user "schmuck69".

hey what do you guys think about a 2.0 type 4 porsche motor? the guy selling it said its been rebuilt 2 years ago not many miles on it just drove it twice a month hes putting a rotary motor in and said its got 125 hp...... i mean someone suggested having the heads redone regardless just to be on the safe side.... are type 4 motors really that bad and unrelaiable? thanks

You might want to check out the latest issues of HotVWs and do some reading about Jake Raby and Bill K's trip across the USA in a 180hp 2270cc Type 4, averaging the whole trip above the legal speed limit.

There is a lot of misinformation on the Type 4 among VW and Porsche enthusiasts. I recommend you check out my Type 4: Secrets Revealed website (see below for the link) and Jake's web site ( http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/ ) to see what makes the Type 4 an awesome conversion for those that like to drive their car, fast. :-)
