Re: Update and improvements on my Oxy build
Just read the whole lot, and loved seeing your progress. Ive added this to my watch list so will be keeping up with it from now on.
I also have a load of 3d printed parts in my builds! Such a useful toy/tool

Re: Update and improvements on my Oxy build
Well, to be more specific: in ran, then it cought fire, and then I am rebuilding the engine compartment
It sounds a bit dramatic, and it was, in the moment it happened, but I managed to put it out quickly and the only damage seems to be on the fan shroud and firewall: I removed the fan shroud and it seems to have started around the #4 injector: The cable/connector is toast, but the injector is hopefully ok:

Re: Update and improvements on my Oxy build
After some investigations I found a damaged o-ring on the pressure side of the #4 injector:
So after a day or so with disassembly and cleaning, the engine bay now looks like this:
I have replaced most of the burned wiring, and have a couple of injector connectors coming in today. My son has stripped and prepped the fan shroud for new paint, and I have to ask my wife nicely if she can pull out the sewing machine again.
And I have ordered some automatic fire extinguisher system
But the good news is that it ran REALLY well before it cought fire, so I cant wait to get it back on the road again
So my theory is that there has been a small leak through this o-ring and the fuel/vapour cought fire from a backfire when starting. The cables and paint then cought fire. Luckily I managed to cut the power to the fuel pump immediately, so no more fuel was sprayed at the fire.So after a day or so with disassembly and cleaning, the engine bay now looks like this:

Me too I hate to think of how this could have ended.Steve Arndt wrote:Glad you put it out before things got worse. Your car is beautiful.
My eldest son has taken responsibility of the fan shroud and it is getting there.
I also picked up the last few connectors today so most of the parts are ready to go back in within a day or two

Re: Update and improvements on my Oxy build
I spent a lot of time verifying that there are no gas leaks tonight, before I attempt to start it again, but I struggled with getting the fuel rails to seal properly. Probably because I made my own set of holders and I suspect the do not put an even force on the o-rings.
So I reverted back to the original fuel rails, and now everything is nice and dry: I hooked up the computer, and I cant get a signal from the MAP sensor, so I need a little more debugging before I am ready for start-up again. I suspect that the wires may have been damaged in the fire, but I will see tomorrow.

It may be somewhere in the thread but I can't find it...
What brand of throttle bodies are they, they have a lovely straight shot from the injectors.
