17" 2001 Boxsters (this was the day after losing my engine so the back is a little light in this shot)...

Hmm I see alot of people running 17's on the car. I was skepitical about it at first. Here is what I have and if you have any info let me know what works.

75 beetle w/SWING AXLE, 3 inch wider rear fenders (what offset do I need in the back) stock front fenders, 2 inch lowered and 3 inch narrowed front beam.

Basically, I have some 17's on the back right now and running 235/45/17 (guessing rims are 9-10 wide but not sure) tires on them. The rim is ever so slightly wider then the tires are (laying down only rim touches). I had to put in a 1/4 inch spacer to keep the rim from hitting the bolt area of the rear where the body mounts up because I dropped the back about 2 inches. The rears slightly angle into the car but barely.

I tried putting this same size tire/rim on the front and have no clearance to turn. Rim or tire was hitting against the shock tower but right now I don't remember which if not both. So what I am looking for is advice on offset and rim/tire size. I really want to run 17's all the way around but no clue where to even begin.

If anyone has any advice please post. Thank you.

I have a Rota Toxxin 17x7.5 wheels on all four sides, modified strut using lancer '94 rear coil spring for neede clearance at front and my spacers are around 1 inch thick on all four sides, its a cheaper way to start a project using 17 inch wheels, even the fenders are stock.

Hope this gives some info. :)

Do you know the offset though? Thats what I really need is the correct offset or close to it. I can't try every tire/rim combo from the store till I find the right one :P

corction on the width its a 17x7 not 7.5 sorry, and the offset is -42, 4x114 bolt pattern. :)

Thx for the info, my only concern is that I have a balll joint front beam, differance is that it's dropped 4 inches (CB dropped spindles and 2 inch lowered beam) and narrowed 3. I'm wondering if -42 offset is enough. hmm, might just have to do some trial and error I guess.

2" wide front and rear, no spacers. 993 Biturbo conversion on the front and 930/944T conversion on the rear. Using factory Porsche parts means no spacers. Check www.germanlook.com for more info ... its all detailed there.
