I bought a KG where rocker pannels and heater channels were already replaced. Unfortunately these heaterchannels were some bad selfmade channnels so I have to replace them anyway.
Now that's not the problem! Problem is that driver-door doesn't fit quick well anymore; it seems that the opening is too small.
Could it be that the opening became smaller while changing these heaterchannels or is it more obvious that the fender (which was also replaced) was placed to much backwards?
Or are there different kind of doors ( smaller ? )
Thanks for your answer!

re:
when I did my heater channels in my type 1.. I rigged up a turnbuckle (using old be frame rails) between the two door pillars. That way I could turn the turnbuckle back and forth, until the pillars were the right length apart for the door to shut properly, with adaquate spacing.

I did the same thing... wasn't happy with it 'till the doors opened and closed like a dream!vwman099 wrote:when I did my heater channels in my type 1.. If the door opening is to small you can rent or buy a(less than $100 for a 4 ton, from Harbor freight) portable hydraulic frame machine. Please use it very carefully, its easy to push something out, you would need a come-a-long (or turnbuckle) to pull it back in. Save Your Ghia!!! So what if your car won't be a 100 point car. You might have to elongate the holes on the a-pilar and the door post latch to get it to close but it can be done. If you have a gap that can be closed by welding solid steel rods to the edge of your door and grinding those down to fit your door post
