Re: Going under the knife
Are type-3 66 end castings different from type-1 end castings?

Axle end castings, right? No idea, pictures might allow a lookup...
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Thanks for the first and second pix of the pan. Never seen one of the later pans before so I could notice the similarities and differences between the bug and the later pans.
Lookin' good!

First time I've heard a 67 described as "later".

Re: Going under the knife
Consider 73 model seat rails etc, much, much safer if hit from rear.
The official vw fix is ugly and renders the seats non adjustable.
You could probably use mk1/2 or 3 rail setups, I suspect those parts are still available.
That may be the only beautiful pan I have ever seen///

Re: Going under the knife
I have a question about heat control cables. The rear seat pedestal (if that's the correct name for it) was trashed so Vega had to create a new one.
I note that there is a metal tube on the left but clips for the right control. Is this correct? Could someone show me what it looks like all hooked up?

Believe it or not it's snowing here and below freezing. Yesterday it was close to 90 degrees F.
The barn is ... unheated.

That took longer than it should have. But the beam is attached.
