Re: evernon's Baja Build
This is a two handle turning brake setup (mine is a custom setup if for that "hot rod style of shifter (VW bus) setup" with turning brakes tied to an 091 trans). The two handle setup is hooked up similar to what you have but you pull on the handle connected to the rear brake you want (your turn to be quicker than the steering wheel can do) to pivot on. The main advantage to this setup is that with a relatively firm tug using both handles at the same time you can lock the diff to get both rear wheels to pull at the same time. While you may not need it is is an option and something I need/use every once-in-a-while. My blue buggy is similar but both the shifter and the turning brake handles are shorter.
I have it on both my blue buggy and the black one I have been building since the '90's but again, this is not for everyone. Just showing you an option if your interested.

Re: evernon's Baja Build
Victory! Sorry, I have been really busy recently and am finally able to update this post. I installed the residual valve just off the MC and bled the whole system again. At first I thought that something was still wrong as the pedal feels much softer than with the previous brakes. After driving though, even with the softer feel, the brakes are now working very well. The fronts no longer lock up on gravel or wet roads and the cutting brake is so much more responsive I am having to re-learn ihow to use it all over! Amazing that I didn't break the handle trying to make it work with the old calipers.
