Chenowth Desert Patrol/Light Strike Vehicle - Pics Added

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

The picture above is backwards. The driver should be on the left and the gunner on the right. The picture must have even reversed to the negative.

Yeah, that's likely what happened. I've seen several pics all from the Desert Storm time frame and noticed all are missing the bodies. Ya gotta wonder if they just didn't have them or if they were removed to avoid baking their legs in the middle eastern heat.

Or they were left off because of constant repairs? Or to keep the sand flowing through, for stepping up easier, who knows.

Good news - I picked up my engine today!

Not much else to report due to getting back in the swing of things after the holidays and SHOT Show last week, but I'm still on track to start the chassis restoration in March.

How much of the engine were they able to salvage? Just curious how sitting in the humidity effected it after seeing the rest of the corrosion.

Tim, yeah I picked this up for easily what it would have cost to get the long block rebuilt. It's fresh off the dyno and looks terrific.

March can't get here soon enough. I'm getting anxious!
