Looking for my old dune buddies.
Looking for the group that I use to go dune with. Bajaherbie, leatherneck, sandude and I forgot the rest. My old name on here was c54fun. Couldn't log in on that name so I set this one up.
Getting back into off road and want to do some more sand dune trips with whoever wants to meet up. We use to have alot of fun. At least until I would break something.
I bought a "crazy thing". He is bringing it to me on the 18th. Cant wait. Will be posting in off road and I see there is a "thing section"
Feel free to post your ride here if you want. Half the fun for me is seeing other peoples off road rigs.

You have to be old school STF because I have been a regular since 2009 and am not sure I know you. Herbie sold his car, so we never associate with him any more. Leatherneck moved to Arizona then wrecked his rail, so he built another one with a Hhonda V-6 in it, yeah it made sense to him. Sandude has been out a while, but pops in from time to time. Baja-5 has one of the most badass things and GetRdone built it along with his own bad ass thing. Oh and good news is Leatheneck is moving back to OK soon. And we actually still like Herbie he hangs out quite a bit for a non VW guy. Oh and I am CWB the guy with a 100page build thread with no pictures left in it because of photofucket.
Oh and that is a beautiful car you have there. Do you bring it out west? Lets see more pics!

That car was at the BOR Vernal race on May 8th. I got to see it go around the course a few times. I heard he sold it and is buying a Class 1 car.
Welcome back to the dirt pile.

Diffidently old school. Around 2007. We had a lot of fun. We had a group that would meet at Little Sahara Ok. Another guy whos name was Troy. Had a blue rail. I worked at the same place as him for a while. I bet he still has his buggy and would want to go again.CentralWAbaja wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 2:12 pm You have to be old school STF because I have been a regular since 2009 and am not sure I know you. I'll post some pictures. Really wish I could take some credit for this car. First time owning a buggy without doing tons of work. Im getting older and wanted lots of suspension and turn key. I'm also getting a spare engine just re built and a spare trans. May build a light weight rail to have fun with.

WOW!! it is good to see you back. I remember your black buggy and the wheelies. Hated to see when you sold it. Glad you are back. Yes a lot has changed. Some real good guys have come in but we’ve lost a lot too.

The older I get the more suspension and bars I want around me. My little black buggy was so much fun.Leatherneck wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 4:53 pm WOW!! it is good to see you back. You are one of the reasons I spent a lot of money on a Turbo. That was one sweet ride. Remember seeing a video of you heading on on the streets and the front end coming way up.

Turbos are so addictive. Especially in the sand. They spool super fast. It use to hold all of 2nd gear in a power wheelie. Way to much fun. Drag radials at the drag strip was also fun.

Your buggy was super fast!
Sanddude sold every bit of VW stuff he owned and is now drag racing a Sonoma truck.
Life has changed a bit and I sold my baja last January to a guy from Kansas.
But I still have my sand paddles and a quad. Current off road vehicle has a/c and power steering, haha.
Post the date you plan on going, I will try to meet up again.

Re: Looking for my old dune buddies.
Well I started here in 2009....
Went to Vegas with BAJA-IT & Leatherneck as well as a few others from STF in 2012 for my first ever desert race (Mint-400). And an unforgettable trip down the Strip in offroad cars
Then the STF regulars started helping me spend money (Well that and my addition to be around racing) and I have ended up here
And yeah we all still break things

Re: Looking for my old dune buddies.
Looks like you have a S W E E T bug. Mint 400 is a big deal. Bugs are my favorite for sure. I was going to buy the one pictured below until I found the thing. I really like yours. Would love to go play in the desert with you sometime. May be moving to Grand Junction Co in the next year or 2. Should be plenty of places out there to go.
