FAQ:Water to Air Intercooler water pumps and more...
For those of you running a water to air intercooler.....what kind/brand/spec pump are you running? GPH etc.
-Are you running it continuous ? Or just activated at a certain temp?
-What size rad/condenser are you running? Fan on it?
-Are you also running a water tank as a reservoir or is there enough water in the system and just have a filler neck on the top of the intercooler itself?
-What kind/brand/size(core size) etc of water to air intercooler do you have? Barrel style or typical square/rectangle.
-What medium are you running? Straight water ? De ionized? Water wetter in there ? Antifreeze mix ?

Rule 1100gph in tank bilge pump.
Running a 3-4 gallon tank
Small 8 or 10 inch heat exchanger with 7 inch fan
Rectangle core 4"x10" with inlet and outlet on the same side. Chinese intercooler with cast end tanks.
I generally run water, but add a little rv antifreeze stuff in the winter.
Pump comes on based on throttle position or intake temp.

I also run the bosch pump, 1150 lph.. I believe it is used on the ford mustang cobra. (Pump wiring plug is the same as bosch injector plug)
Here: https://www.lingenfelter.com/product/BO ... FHefk2Wxdg
Homemade intercooler built from an eagle talon factory unit.
3 gallon tank in package tray - fill and burp system here.
3/4" lines, straight water (although a turbo buick buddy advises me to add a water wetter)
Heat exchanger is a Kawasaki Ninja radiator and aftermarket fan mounted under package tray.
Using the filler and cap from the same ninja (pressure relief-just incase).
Pump and fan runs constantly but will change if I ever upgrade to MS3.

That's cool. It would be fun to try to figure out how to line a spare tire and use that as the water box. Stealthy!

Where is your ECU if the tank is there?

Re: FAQ:Water to Air Intercooler water pumps and more...
I used a PWR 4X10" Intercooler mounted on the inside of my package tray. I made some flanges on the firewall for the tubing to come through.
For the Pump, I used a Mercedes Auxiliary Water Pump - Bosch 0392022010. It is the same as the Lingenfelter pump with a Mercedes connector instead of the common delphi 2 pin. It flows 3.6gpm.
The tank was custom made by the same guy that built Chips (Dads Custom Tanks). I have a new much larger tank now with a big Rule Bilge pump inside. Unfortunately, now that I have a 6"X10" PWR intercooler it will no longer fit. So a 3rd tank will need to be built
Not pictured (yet) is the radiator or the intercooler. It is under the car mounted beneath the tranny.
The ECU controls the Intercooler pump, and the intercooler fan. They are staged to come on at temps about 10 degrees apart. The pump comes on first to get the water flowing and then the radiator fan comes on.

That's a great use of wasted space back there. I just don't think I could bring myself to cut my car up. I'm struggling cutting off my apron!

Why not? Its your car. You aren't ruining it. If the next owner were to take my car, pull the go fast and sit low goodies out of it and put it all back to stock, thats fine. They might have a hole or 20 to patch. Its just metal though. Make it yours. Stop worrying about what the next owner will think when they buy it.

Oh there will never be a next owner. My grandmother bought this car new in 65'. Well. At least not while I'm alive!

Re: FAQ:Water to Air Intercooler water pumps and more...
I always wondered how that would work as efi with the injectors in the end castings and a single idf throttle body in the middle. poop you could even have the option for a 5th and 6th injector if needed for a little extra fuel:)
