In the interim you can try filtering with MS3.

Do you still have resistors in line?

Not looked into that? Will have to have a search on filtering.

Resistors in-line of what sorry? The sensor? No never have....

Put a 10k pull up resistor on the signal and power leg of the sensor it will cut noise.

Also filtering in the Tunerstudio SW will allow you to remove some noise. Though it’s sensitive as when I did mine I started to loose the count.

Hope that helps

Hi

So i had a bit of time out from the beetle, just wasn't interested in it and had alot going on in my life.

so i was having issues with crank trigger.

The solution, Mario's hidden crank trigger setup, i got it through Richie Webb who machined my pulley for it also.

i just fitted it yesterday which is pretty easy to do and everything goes together nice.

it literally fired right up! and with the settings in the ECU at 80* crank angle it seems perfect when i locked it to 10*

So i bypassed the charge cooler and with it about 2 meters of intake piping AFTER the throttle body.... just to make my life simpler for a while and i'll run just methanol/water injection and see how i get on.
i just need a new throttle cable and i can have a go at driving it around and setting up the gears and tracking ect maybe even fit the windows....

its now idling at 13.6:1 AFR which is already alot better then before and holds a good idle (upgraded to MS3 also)
its idling about 80kpa but when you hold on a bit of throttle it does go down to about 50kpa so i'll rescale my maps i think. and work with that.

i let it auto tune for a little while just holding the throttle just off idle ect as its just got the MS generated map really, havnt driven it to even begin tuning it.

but it all progress!

new throttle cable, windows and then take it for a drive i think and see what breaks next!

Thanks!

its nice when things just bolt up and work! was quite refreshing

the real test is not breaking it on the test drive and break the cycle!!

i've got a week of leave next week so should be able to get it out and driving maybe!

i wanted to try a muffler for a while now, so i took the GSXR 1000 muffler i had on the 2.1 as NA and just held it on the exhaust pipe and its amazing what a change it make! takes all the bark and ear killing out of it! can then only hear the fan and cam gears which i like......

just being a stock motorbike muffler its probably restrictive but i think i'll make something up with a muffler and have it i the left hand wheel well maybe...? space is the reason i don't have one yet

So i got a couple short test runs in, starting to build up the tune, but will do lots of logs and us VE analyse to help me out and auto tune.... just trying to hit the bins, i can't drive it on the road yet as its not insured so just driving it round a large military base.

i hit 5.5psi of boost which was a winner! but 85%duty cycle on my injectors.... they were just a stop gap and i knew i would need to replace them at some point. my wasegate is 7psi sprung anyways.

my intake temps were up to 55-60 *C though which is high i feel? it was a 30 *c day though which wasn't helping. but i need to plumb in that methanol injection as currently there is no charge cooling just been testing to see if the rest of the car works as its had a body off, everything new or upgraded ect last year....

but boost is boost! need to hook up the speedo too! and work out how to setup the CANBUS for the MS3? as my digi dash reads oil pressure and temp and puts that into a correct signal for MS and i've wired in the CANBUS wires but i need to tell TS what's what i goes.... more reading required! can log pressure and temp then also. which seems to be okay going off the dash readouts.

Congrats on boost.

Water meth is easy to hook up. Can bus seems a bit more involved but probably not a ton like you said just reading.

i wasn't sure this HX40 would even boost on my 2.1.
going to block off half the scroll on it also as i've been reading about that and seems very promising. will be free to try, just a bit of ultra copper sealant and a thin sheet of metal.

yeah i have the pump and tank and lines, nozzle holder, just going to pick a nozzle and order that, then let MS do the rest :)

Yeah blocking half the scroll should wake that hx40 up good. Though maybe a quick spook valve maybe in order as a future modification.

Have you priced those quick spool valves?!

£250 in the UK i saw one for.... but tbh that huge turbo won't be seeing max flow or boost on my "small" engine anyways so..... ideally id have a HX30 or maybe a 35.... the 40 is a big ole turbo! almost 600bhp capable.... my head studs will rip out way before that ;)

No,

But I feel like you could make one with some ingenuity and an old waste gate actuator.

Seems like i looked before and they were like $800. Vacuum operated or something like that.
