Been lurking this forum for a while, started putting together a turbo setup. Not entirely cheaping out, but not spending a ton either. The engine is a fresh 1915 that wasn't built with a turbo in mind (110 cam, 8.5:1, cheap components), but I dont drive it too much (less than 500 miles a year) and Im not going for absolute amazing performance. Purchased a small ebay turbo and plan on just running the internal wastegate at 5-7 lbs.

Installed a new "built" single side cover trans with a stage 1 pressure plate and daiken disc.

Purchased a cheap exhaust and plan to make a simple up pipe off the collector.

Limited a 009 distributor with a grub screw, need to fine tune it. Might upgrade in the future to a CB black box or similar.

Installed a holley blue pump and a boost referenced regulator, needed a tank that could facilitate a return so I just bought a new one.

Made a few 30mm mod rings, I did install turbo emulsion tubes so I am not sure if I will need them, but it gave me something to do on a slow day.

Still need to finish the up pipe, charge pipe and downpipe (waiting for bends to come in the mail), install a wideband, and make some feed/return lines.

Luv the off-road buggy! " Warning" your gonna need better back tires to take advantage of the new powerband :lol: :wink:

Thanks guys.

Tacked together some pipes. Need another 90* bend to finish up the charge pipe.

Tested the wastegate, doesnt even think of opening until at least 10psi even when disconnected from the arm, ordered a replacement 5psi wastegate. I can always turn it up with a boost controller if I want.

Exhaust flange didnt fit even though I bought the ugly one with a bunch of holes in it to mate to different turbos. I found a flange for a TB25 turbo, looks like it will fit. Turbo restrictor didnt fit either, apparantly this turbo isnt an m11x1 thread inlet.

Your in Michigan 8) where? I'm up north ,, and I know lots of 'trail's' :lol:
Do keep the 10 lbs. gate ur gonna need it someday :wink: :lol:

I'm in the thumb, mostly just ice cream cruise or beat on it around mine or a friends property. When people see it and want a ride I have a nice little hill to get airborne off of which makes people freak out haha.

I figure I can always turn up the 5lb gate with a manual controller, this thing has the cheap scat internals so im not sure how happy its gonna be, but Im going to find out. Its just money, I can make more. All the fabrication stuff/setp is what takes the most time anyway!

I think you would be surprised. I put 30 psi at my stock engine for quite a while. When I tore it down only thing I found wrong was whoever rebuilt it who knows when didn't put a thrust bearing in the cam. Even now only thing not stock is my cam and lifters. Still putting 25+ psi to it and up to 6000 rpm so far. I'm on E85 though, but still shows what they can take.

Thanks for the experience, seems like I see a lot of doomsayers on other forums. Im not sure how the stockers are built, but I have put a lot of power through factory GM bottom ends with hyper eutectic pistons and while more brittle, they could hold power as long as you didnt operate under heavy knock conditions.

I also have efi and an interooler. Keeping the tune spot on and intake temps down goes a long way for engine life. An intercooler would do a lot of good for you too. Something you may want to add down the road. You have the perfect machine for it.

I hear ya on giving 'Ride's' My road is dirt and quite Hilly, gave a guy a ride going up one of the small hills and it boosted, we came off the ground, He had a "Perma grin" the rest of the day :lol:

Finished feed/return lines. Hopefully no issues with this return, I do have a 1.5mm IIRC restriction in the feed side, and the return is -8an. Turbo is bushing style.

Downpipe and flange are GTG. Took a long time to find the appropriate flange to mate with the turbo, and only took minimal mods to make fit.

5lb wastegate tested and installed, Ill put a manual boost controller on it at some point.

Any suggestions for a BOV? I wasnt going to use one at all but im considering it. I kinda copied things from CB performance's pictures but it would appear they do not utilize a BOV.

Once I get a 90* elbow I should be able to finish my charge pipe. Aside from TIG welding all the pieces together and tuning, I think I will be done at that point.
