Thoughts on cam grind

Post by sixty5slug » Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:32 am

Need some opinions on this camshaft for turbo. It's a Steve Long EXR304 on a 110 LSA. It's similar to the FK45 and 86b

I don't know the specs on the RLR PT1, but someone is trying to sell me on it over this.

Let me know

SLR EXR304

Lift w/ 1.4s 559 intake 559 exhaust
Adv Duration 304 @.050 262

There not dead... just slow at times... maybe it is just deep thoughts going on.

Since I don't play with "puffed" engines I can't help much. I do run a high lift short duration cam on a normally asperated engine and that is to get "grunt" (torque). I don't think it will help with what you are running though.

Kind of depends what your putting it on. Is it a 1200cc turbo or a 2442cc fire breathing dragon? What heads? What rpm are you wanting to run?

Where was your shift point with that 86b? Curious as to what real world turbo rpm it turns.

If you are running a Shag turbo you might be better off asking him which cam he would recommend.....

I'm gonna have to agree with Art here. That's no "run around town" build. Your in the high end of stuff and sounds like your looking for something serious.

That would depend on if he has recommended the correct turbo for this engine..
is has most likely a too small turbine.

Based on your valve size I would go for a tsc series cam. Or order a turbo cam from Skinne racing.

I would say it's very unlikely Shag recommend the wrong turbo.
