"Reliable" 300hp Type 1, possible?

With Turbo and Super charging you can create massive horsepower with vw motors.

Should't like any of those CNC heads flow enough for 300hp turbo setup?

richie,uk wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 6:43 am Yes it can be done :) I have a 1303 that fits your description, i street drive it whenever i want to, use it for commuting to work and back regularly for over 2 years now and it makes about 350hp on normal supermarket available petrol at 17psi boost,
Ok but 1st i have to say it was built with mainly what I had laying around leftover from other projects as its a budget build so if i was building something to meet Villemil's needs it wouldn't be the same.
2332 in a mag case, yes EFI[ i wouldn't build something turbo to be used daily if it wasn't] and water/air intercooled, single 75mm TB, 1 5/8 header, older garrett t3/4

Here is where I saw the 136cc port volume. That may only be for the CNC version. I don't see a specific port volume on the non cnc.

I was figuring it was for a cnc head but not 100% sure, as for engine size, well if I was to choose any size based on his simple 300hp streetable requirements i would recommend going 74x101.6, but also remembering I said i wouldn't use thickwall cylinders anything 92mm bore is a non starter ;)
My own real world example is a 2332 so was basing it off that as I think it works pretty dam well whatever port work and size it has :)

Probably but some will need more boost thrown at them than others and so therefore more heat so also may fail quicker

Fair enough. Keep in mind, all we ever hear is "keep the port volume small to keep air speed up". Pat at CB recommended to me (for a street car) the wedge port heads on a 82x94 because they have a 76cc port volume but still flow fairly well. So when i see a port volume of 136cc you can understand my confusion.

Well... Sometimes poop happens and yesterday our garage burned down. The project was going really well until this.

Rest in peace my VW Bug :(
