Picking the right case for oxyboxer
Hello.
So i've read into these a bit, but i'm wondering if some cases are better then others? i know the 2.1 had the 82mm crank which is plus, but could you fit that into either case?
are the cases identical or do they differ with the different thrust bearing designs?
Cheers
Andy

The 2.1 engine used a 76mm crank.

Early 1.9 engines have the different rear bearing design.
If you check the rear bearing saddle where the case half meets there is a notch where the tab of a later style thrust washer fits.
The 2.1 engines have a raised roof to allow for the larger crank.
2.1 cranks can be fitted into a 1.9 case after some clearance work.

Thank you, didn't know about the raised roof either, or to look for the notch.
it will be a thick walled cylinder engine, probably 92mm, and lots of boost. CC isn't as important as NA engines. ish...
just trying to find them in the UK when i last looked into this a few years back i'm sure there was alot more about?!

Used to be able to pickup wbx cases cheap 10 years ago.
Now that T25's are more popular prices for spares have gone crazy.
If you're boosting then a later 1.9 case/crank would still work great.
Marco Mansi has boosted a stock 1.9 engine well over 200hp.
Try Simon Davey, he might have some short blocks kicking around.

Matt's 2.1 was built by Marco Mansi, the mans a wbx guru.
Certainly worth hooking up with him on facebook.
There is also a wbx group worth joining.

I’ll have to pick his brains closer to the time just need to track down a good case first! Some look like they’ve been in the bottom of a bog for 6 years!!

Well I got a 2.1 off eBay complete with injection system, was £250 so should make some back selling off all the extra stuff on it.
Engine was overheated apparently so will see what’s what’s. Turns over fine and doesn’t leak oil so we’ll see!
Just cleaning it up now. Is the engine code in the same location as the T1’s? As this one is milled flat and have a circle stamp with something in it, and some upside down numbers. I want to say it’s 4 numbers but will check tomorrow.
Thinking it’s maybe a factory rebuilt item...?

Started stripping down one side and the head is toast, valve is stuck open about 5mm and the push rod is a banana
Looks like too much spark advance as the material in the chamber is eaten away between and by the valve, Atleast I didn’t want the heads!!
