2056 VW type4 2.0 afr-target and ignition

Post by grueng »

Have a 2056 type4 in bay-bus with ms2
Wasted spark coil
stock type 4 2,0FI plenum and inlet
European motorworks type C cam
8,5:1 compression ratio
39 mm inlet valve, stock exhaust valve.
stock heat-boxes, vintage speed exhaust.

Runs great, but want some quality control on my AFR target and ignition table.

MAP at idle = 65-70kpa
MAP at cruise = 65-70kpa
I have tried to get a some lean cruise

attached is afr and ignition table.

Do you have inputs and warnings?

It looks pretty good to me.....I'm not real up on T-4 engines but Piledriver said they seem to like a little less advance than a T-1.....I think.....

That is about where I run my engine at for AFR's....I've tried the real lean cruise but it just never felt right on the throttle pedal.

I run 15.1:1 at cruise and 12-12.5 At WOT and boost. I have a very narrow window from cruise to boost though.

You ignition map looks close to mine also.....I run a max of 38 degrees.

You could have someone run the computer while you drive and then have them adjust the advance in the cruise areas to see if you can increase torque. Watch your TPS position while you change the ignition map......if it takes less throttle to hold speed it's should be a good thing.

I prefer to stay a little conservative due to mine being a performance tune and not a mileage tune.
You might want something else.

Don't be afraid to try different settings......just make sure you do a "Save As" before you do big changes.

targets looks good but the scaling on the table is killing you.

if you idle at 65-70 and cruise about that too, i would have the bottom row on that axis as like 50-55, then scale up from there, it will give you alot more resolution on the table and alot more fine tuning available

at the moment you can only use half the table, re scale it and then it will let you use the whole table.

are you VE tables scaled the same?
