My Bug - What the hell is it?

Hi, A couple of years ago I bought an April '72 lhd bug. It was brought in Italy and driven over to England by an Italian guy who got a job in London. When I got it, it had a 1200 lump, although it's not the original. It's got a rounded front screen, vinyl dash and it sits pretty high off the ground in relation to my bog-standard 1300. Any help appreciated thanks.

If it's got the rounded screen it is certainly a 1303 superbeetle. The thing is, in the U.S the 1973 model was the first with the rounded windscreen. I'm not sure what the European year changes were specifically. Look under the front and let us know if you see big springs or torsion bars.

just had a look, got big shock absorbers, McPherson strut?
