towing a bug without cvs

the cv shafts are out (disconnected from tranny and inner hub), can it be 4 wheel towed ?

You have to totally remove the axles. Otherwise the will spin and something will get damaged. (about 30 minutes to totally remove them)

As Glenn said: Remove both assemblies (each axle with both its CVs). If you just plan to tow the car on all four, you don't need to remove or disconnect any of the CVs. Just remember: It all or nothing (disconnection wise when towing). Cheers!
