Wasser Boxer Header suppliers?

Post by mattcfish »

I noticed that "Aircooled" doesn't list S&S V-70 or 71 headers anymore. I tried to contact S&S but couldn't get through and my emails bounced. I see that Concept 1 (a Canadian Company) has them http://www.concept1.ca/AIR%20COOLED%20F ... xhaust.htm
No price though. What other options are there if you're looking for an "afordable" performance exhaust for these engines. Can a Type 1 header be modified to work by turning the flanges?

Yes, and watch the clearance to the oil filler flange on the block as its rotated and can get mighty close to a header.

Concept 1 got back to me. S&S is out of business and they nolonger have any of their headers.

So the answer is yes on modifying a type 1 header. Would the van model of the A1 Sidewinder be workable?
What about width from port to port?

You making that for them?
Nice.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

More like the other way around, sort of, it's a partnership effort. It's my design, I was making them by hand from mild steel U-bends, sold about a dozen systems, but always looking for someplace that could manufacture it. Then I hooked up with RMW and last winter I went up and redesigned the whole thing from scratch to the constraints of their tubing bender, now they are making them up in Fort Collins. Jointly we've sold in 4 months more than I sold in almost three years, it's been well-received.

Next collaboration is a long-runner 4into1 for the Vanagon Suby 2.2 and 2.5 conversions which will fit with both RMW's and Smallcar's Suby engine support systems. That one is a challenge, here's a peek:

This one will pull up a big dip in the torque band right around 3800 rpm, which happens to be cruising rpm with a Vanagon standard 4th gear. It'll finish with a 2" collector and modular component mounting system like the WBXaustSS has. Fun stuff.
