Those inlets looks good Steve, but I'll guess you're getting something bigger.
For my goal with this engine, I think, they will be okay as they are.
If I'm, eventually, going to go for more power than these can produce like they are, then I'll change the complete intake system.
This is, as I said earlier, just a test to see if it works.

It should work great.
If I build an engine with fuel economy in mind then the mexi intake is ideal I believe. I run a 12:1 compression 2275 now so they are a bit too small.

Steve, what would you call the max hp limitations of the mexi runnuers and center?
A srock, untouched.
And
B opened and cleaned up, but no welding.
I am about to build an engine for the wife's bug.

The "pipe" section of the runners that connect to the plenum are 28mm ID. Pretty small. The sharp turn below the injector is a restriction until ported out.
They are probably good for around 75 hp untouched. Maybe 100 with the welding and opening I have done. They will be torque monsters though, and it should tune nice with no in runner reversion.
I also chopped the throttle body flange off and I was going to box it to increase volume and put on a 50mm instead of 43mm throttle body.
Mario and Chip B. both ran the mexi system, turboed, with megasquirt. The max seems to be around 200 HP with boost.

Sorry, slow progress..
I'm building a new workshop to build the engine in...
Got my heads back from flycutting, chambers are 30cc's should be around 10:1.
And i bought a stage 1 clutch.
I'm thinking of what kind of valve springs i will need, suggestions are very welcome I'm going to use std valvesizes and a scat c35 cam.

Re: 1600 with DigiJet and mexico manifold.
A guy here in germany made around 115HP out of the mexican manifold.
It is a 1776 with W110. Shure he made some porting but nothing wild like welding material on etc.
He also used the original TB. But how far he modified it, i dont know.
I am no expert in mexican EFI engines, but everything looks bone stock to me. Plus he still has a catalytic converter and reaching emission goals for low tax here in germany.
I am shure he dont mind posting this picture:
Its the left one. On the pic the left one is brand new and the right one allready 5 years in operation.

Sorry no updates, I had to line bore my engine case, it was slightly oval, and that's done now.
These days I'm searching my parts bin for a good crank shaft.

Case has been linebored.
And the oil plugs are out.
