How do I paint empi / lemmerz sprint stars with highlights

I want them to look like this.





I'm having them blasted, what next!?
I'm puzzled, how do I lacquer the metal, do I do it first and mask it the paint the rest black, the other way round or is it better to paint it all black, wait for it to dry then rub down the highlights back to metal then lacquer it all?

Any help would be great. Thanks

I would do them in Silver, Mask and shoot the black afterward.... Might be just as easy to shoot the black first, but I think the black kwould cover silver better than silver would cover black.

That's what I'd do if Paint or Powder coated.

I agree; clean/bead blast them first getting all the rust out. Use something like POR15 to seal air from the rust virus (or whatever it is) then; primer, seal, and paint the silver; mask with good painter's tape then do your black. The new painter's tape they have is so much better than the old masking tape; a cleaner edge and comes off easier w/o taking paint with it.

The old way of doing the silver last is going to take more work I think.
