Phenolic insulators for Weber 40's

Post by williala »

I have a 1976 Porsche 912E, and I am currently overhauling the engine, and converting to dual Weber 40 carbs. My problem is finding the phenolic insulators that go between the carbs and the intake manifold.
I have the 3 stud Porsche heads, and I can't find anyone who provides them. Does anyone have any info on where these could be found?

Thanks.

Welcome to the asylum.

Jake Raby sells them, stock or HD urethane bits.

You can also get rubber insulators in the Weber base pattern instead.

IMHO:...
Unless you live in a very hot climate there is no upside to the stock phenolic insulators if using Webers.
They exist to reduce the fuel boiling in the injectors.
I'm running EFI using the factory runners (no insulators) at least and it is not an issue in Dallas for me..
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I've never run those with carbs. A little heat keeps the manifold icing problems away.

Shouldn't be an issue with IDF carbs (as far as icing goes). If it were the dreaded Weber progressive then yes icing would be an issue especially in a cool/cold climate zone. I use the phenolic spacers from the VH kit with one exception...I run them between the cylinder heads and intake manifold. No issues with icing.
