USPS sent me through several weeks of factory-level training on the GM FI system and I too thought seriously about adapting it to an ACVW. The `94-up port-injected would be the better option, although it uses a "hot-wire" mass sensor that can be spendy to replace... the earlier throttle-body injection that works on manifold vacuum is less sophisticated but should suffice if your expectations aren't too great. Both systems can "learn" to some extent, and if you aren't using the ECU to run the timing curve you probably wouldn't need a custom-programmed MemCal chip for an engine of roughly the same displacement/RPM range...I think you could "fatten" the A/F ratio to be more aircooled-friendly by simply tweaking the temp sensor(s), but that's just conjecture on my part - I never got around to trying it before the technology of the aftermarket FI systems surpassed it. Still an interesting idea, but I have to agree with miniman82, it's probably not worth the time to mess with just for the sake of being different.

Ray, your avatar made me laugh. I didn't realize the Haynes had a Bf109 repair manual.

Ok, I know that everyone says go mega, I just find their price is extreme. It's $300 for the ECM. A GM ECM can be bought for $30-60 proms are $2-3 and burners are $15-30. That's 1/3 of the price. THen you still need injectors, throttlebody, lambda sensor....

Am I missing something?

Ray, what you would recommend for a ECM?

Doc. I reached out to Ted, and helped quite a bit. No real data on a distributor option but suggested that a Ford reloctor, pickup coil could work.

I saw someone use a ford escord setup on a VW bug, but it was not under boost. Any other options?
Thanks! I was using the Haynes manual for the NASA lunar module for an, Avatar until last week.

Seriously if you are going to go with something from either Ford or GM, go late model for the very reasons that Pile noted. Just as available, better connectors. ....just abiut as cheap, because plenty are in the "yards".

If not, go with MS. For the cost of about $80 in crimper and dies and about $200 or so in modern connectors and silver plated, teflon jacketed wire you can build your own harness for any, system.....better than factory. Ray

You are an inspiration, Ray, considering a new avatar:
The internal cutaway illustration of the Tardis was omitted as it required too many extra dimensions.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
