On recent firmware you can set the fuel cut delay to zero, default (and old minimum) is 1/2 second, my car pops like a machine gun reliably with the default (zero exhaust leaks)
.5 seconds of probably unburnt fuel in the muffler goes pop-pop-pop for me.
You may have to edit the ini on MS2 to do the same, 30 second job usually.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

The only way to check the filter is to pour the residual fuel out of the filter inlet side. pour into a glass jar, and the impurities will be visible.mutly wrote:Yes. I changes the filter also. The way the Bosch filter is designed I really couldn't see any visible signs of contamination. I pulled the gas tank also, so I could replace the lower steering shaft bearing. While it was out I did a visual of the internals of the tank. I didn't see anything inside. Just to make sure I checked each line and fitting and flushed everything. With a completely new tank of gas that may be a possible cure also.
I checked the compression while I was changing the spark plugs. All checked good there also. That was very comforting. I just changed the pistons and cylinders just 1500 miles ago.
In a Bosch filter, the fibers swell shut from the water, and fuel flow is cut off.
Symptom onset is that you progressively have less available throttle before the car stutters and misfires.
Eventually, it will only idle, then not even that.
