continuing to set up the fuel system for my megasquirt system. I've bought much of the stuff from Mario at dub shop, but am also scrounging some stuff myself locally, such as the fuel injectors. I'm using the CB throttle bodies and rails (just ordered but not received yet) and will be installing the injectors into them. I may go with manifold mounted injectors later. My system calls for 30lb injectors, EV1 plug, high impedance. The shop is recommending a generation 3 injector over the 1 and 2, for the following reasons:
runs cooler, better spray pattern, E10 compliant
This all sound good to me, but from the pics I've seen most people are running the generation 1 and 2 injectors with the larger metal lower housing. The generation 3 injectors don't always have the groove for the rail clip, part #7058 here

I'm inclined to pull the trigger and get them, but I always ask around for first hand experience when I can. Any words of wisdom?

I ran 3 different types of injectors on my old CB ITBs and none of them had the groove for the clips. I just ran without and made sure the rails were bolted down securely.

I'd use modern injectors over old ones any day. Tech has just gotten better. Doesn't sound like your system is going to demand to much from any type injector, but I sure like having 1000cc high impedance ones that will happily idle at 850-900rpm all day on my low compression 2.3L 4 cylinder.. That's what technology will do for you.
