My motor is puffing smoke and I'm pretty sure the rings are bad. I want to keep my motor streetable and well mannered. The motor wasn't originally built for boost, but it did run good. If there are things I can do to make the motor more efficient for boost I'd like to take this opportunity to do it.
What I'm currently running:
CB Performance Bubble block 1955cc, forged crank, H-beam rods, Mahle forged pistons. Not sure of compression ratio, but I believe around 8.5:1
Older CB 044 heads
I think the cam is an Eagle 2235 (bought motor from someone and don't know for sure):
Adv. Duration 270°
Dur. @ .050" 236°
Lift @ cam .374"
Lift w/1.1:1 Rocker Arms .411"
T3/4B stg1 S trim .48ar Turbo from SL1
Megasquirt setup from Dubshop with wasted spark and dual 40mm IDF style throttle bodies
Meth/water injection
I'm thinking about going up to a 2110 (78x94) and maybe changing the cam if there's a better choice for boost.
Any thoughts from the turbo gurus?

Not a turbo guru by any stretch so I can’t help answer your question but did you have something you didn’t like in your previous setup?
That may help some smarter people then me to answer your question.

Would be nice if boost came on a little sooner, started boosting around 3000 rpm. Other than that, maybe a tad more power.

I am no guru by any means but have used turbos on several VW engines, a smaller turbo would provide quicker boost. How much power are you looking to make? It would be less expensive to rering your engine and get a smaller turbo to fit your needs, you could sell your current turbo to ofset cost.

Hummm. Seems like a pretty good combo to me. How much boost were you running? With that compression and water/meth I would think 20 psi would be no problem. Should be an easy 275hp+.
If you are going to go through all the expense and trouble to build another engine, why not go to an 82mm crank? Maybe 92mm thick walls?

Yeah, about 20-23 lbs of boost. Maybe I'll just freshen up the top end....

Yeah man you should be knocking on 300hp's door. But that 82mm crank would slip right in there!

78x92 thick wall's total seal 2nd ring
FK8 cam w/1:4's
40mm TB's may be to small?
your turbo will work, but may run out of 'steam'?
but will come on boost sooner
if that's the case look for a turbo with a .57-.63 turbine housing
